Alerts help you catch unexpected consumption before it drives up costs. In Wattsc, an alert rule links a meter or channel to a threshold and a notification method. When the threshold is crossed, your team is notified immediately so you can investigate and act.
1

Open the Alerts page

Navigate to Monitoring > Alerts and click New Alert Rule.
2

Select a meter or channel

Choose the facility, then pick the meter and the specific channel you want to monitor. You can also select All Channels on a meter for a combined rule.
3

Set the threshold

Define the condition that triggers the alert:
  • kW — Triggers when instantaneous power exceeds a value.
  • kWh — Triggers when cumulative consumption over a period exceeds a value. Enter the limit and choose whether the alert fires when the value is above or below the threshold.
4

Choose notification channels

Select how your team should be notified:
  • Email — Sent to the addresses you list.
  • SMS — Sent to verified phone numbers on your account.
  • Webhook — POSTed to a URL you provide, useful for integrating with Slack, Microsoft Teams, or your own systems.
5

Save and test

Click Save Rule, then use the Send Test button to confirm your chosen channels are working.
Avoid creating too many overlapping rules on the same channel. Receiving dozens of alerts for minor fluctuations leads to alert fatigue and causes real issues to be ignored. Start with one or two critical thresholds and refine them over time.
Use the Quiet Hours setting to pause non-critical alerts during nights or weekends. You can schedule different quiet windows per alert rule so on-call staff only receive truly urgent notifications outside business hours.
